We made it: Maddi’s first day of school. It was a hard day but we did it. So after eating breakfast, brushing teeth and taking are morning meds we went out to wait for the bus. Mamaw, papaw, daddy, Jackson, and I, taking your normal first day of school pictures. Then we heard that dreaded sound. Well, it was a dreaded sound for me. Up pulls bus 10 and the door opens. Maddi and I climb the stairs. After about 10 kisses because I needed them. She waved bye and found a seat. She was a little sad. After one more goodbye the door closed and off they went. As the bus pulled away, Mam pulled up. Jackson went running up to her and said “Mam, we don’t have Maddi anymore”. We all needed a good laugh. Well for most it would end there but not me. I had to go meet the bus at the school. Ok, I know I am a little over the top. I just wanted to make sure she made it to school, and to her class. But we did not get to class without a trip to the nurse’s office. Maddi had picked at her finger and made it bleed. So a quick trip to the nurse’s office for a Band-Aid then to class we went. After a few more kisses goodbye I knew I had to leave. But just for a few more hours because the school and I decided it would be a good idea if I came for lunch. I think I scared them a bit about her heart condition. She really is ok but I wanted to make sure they knew everything. I think the school will be seeing a lot of me. So after a quick trip to the library and a trip to the doctor with Brookie. I found my self waiting for bus 10 again. There she sat in the same seat I put her in this morning. She was home in one piece and happy to see me. After getting a prize out of the prize box, off the bus she came. I gave her a big hug and a kiss. I was glad to have her home. Her day was good, she said. She even had a note from the teacher it said: “Maddi had a wonderful day! She is so smart! We are excited to have her in our class. Mrs. Pearl” That is where the story ends.
I am very proud that God picked me to be Maddi and Jackson’s mom. This is not a very easy job but I love it. I would like to thank you all for the prayers that were said for our family. I believe that Maddi and Jackson both are here today because of many prayers.
It has been a big day for all of us. Better get to bed, never know what might happen in the Phillips house tomorrow.

I know it just kills us to have our babies go to kindergarten. It's also fun, though, to experience all the new things they will do with them. Kendra started school this week too. It really killed me not to be there to see her off and enjoy the whole thing with her. It was fun to hear about it on the phone though.
